Student Union - Meet the Cast!
Ashford J. Thomas
(Executive Producer/ Writer/ Director/ Editor)

Character Name: “Jay Thomas”

Hometown: Greensboro, North Carolina

School: Howard University Graduate / Theatre Major

I created Howton U. to employ social commentary as a platform to express my experiences at an H.B.C.U. Based on actual events in college, I use satirical humor to express the highs and lows that are part of the priceless journey of attending an H.B.C.U, all the while paying tribute to the good and the bad times. Additionally, I blended my writing influences such as Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Wayans Bros., Everybody Hates Chris, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with today’s hip- hop music and placed it all in a collegiate setting.

After creating the characters, I felt as though I put a little of myself in each one of the fellas. Taylor, for just being an overall good guy, Jay, for saying everything he feels and his free-spirited nature to be a unique individual, and Alex for his studiousness, I wish I could say I had. And yes ladies the “Imma about to get my freak on dance” is very real!!!! Lol

Upcoming Projects: I’m starring in a feature film, Douglass U., to be released later this year. Also be on the look out for my critically acclaimed stage play entitled Ashford J. Thomas’ “Who is Curtis Lee?” coming soon.

Hari Williams
(Executive Producer)

Character Name: “Taylor Johnson”

Home town: Calabasas, California

School: Howard University Graduate / Theatre Major

Describe your personality and how you relate to your character:
Looking back at my time as a college freshman, Taylor and I have a lot in common. He is a genuinely good guy who still has a lot to learn about life and women. He approaches life with a great sense of humor and while he can be cautious, he is never afraid to set out on a new adventure. I think people are going to connect with the show and these characters because we deal with real scenarios in very funny ways and have a lot of fun.

Upcoming Projects: I’m producing and starring in my feature film, Douglass U., to be released later this year.
